She had this warmness about her and the home environment that she has created made you want to stay awhile. I think my daughter, who accompanies me to most photo shoot, would have asked her for a bedtime story if we stayed any longer.</span></p><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">If I could give this effect she had on kids a name, I would called it the "mommy magnetism". Some moms just have it. Her three older kids were home from college for the holiday, even-though they were eager to hang out with friends, I found Alex, Jordan, Michael and Megan all hanging around the kitchen area just to be close to mom. It was wonderful just to watch this effect in action. Jeannine shared her amazing mom story with me. It's got everything from adoption, to having multiple twins to sending kids to college on a modest income. She's one impressive lady and I will look forward to sharing her story in my photography book on mothers. Stay tuned!!</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:Helvetica;font-size:medium;"><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><span style="font: normal normal normal 13px/normal Verdana; font-family:Verdana;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Helen Malick</span></b></span></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Verdana, serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">= Helen Malick Photography </span><a href="http://www.mountainwind.biz/"><span style="color: rgb(142, 105, 151); color:#8e6997;"><u><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">website</span></u></span></a></span></div><div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Verdana, serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">= Become a fan of </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Verdana, serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">HMP on </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Helvetica;"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Helen-Malick-Photography/181144222593"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">Facebook</span></a></span></span></div></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940078199927893537.post-8770264841745909572009-08-27T17:48:00.000-07:002009-08-27T19:20:15.478-07:00Three Generations<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2Ixavs_xYN4qsh0zI9cfzZuo-8ur6h2Z9gs0QO7cQDKYZD3jJeUrpBDRWI_alTLbQkVrGWgP_reMsB2a66riRd00d9cSiP2A3xvNXlbWUFQOi3GN2v1ogfY8OA4MSDPafsI7oF5tSRE/s1600-h/5_Family_169.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2Ixavs_xYN4qsh0zI9cfzZuo-8ur6h2Z9gs0QO7cQDKYZD3jJeUrpBDRWI_alTLbQkVrGWgP_reMsB2a66riRd00d9cSiP2A3xvNXlbWUFQOi3GN2v1ogfY8OA4MSDPafsI7oF5tSRE/s320/5_Family_169.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374810989307122306" /></a>I waited four months to capture this image for two reasons:<div><br /></div><div>One, the mom, Dr. Janet Black, is half Taiwanese and I am already taking notes on how she handled growing up bi-racial. My children, much like Janet, is also half Taiwanese and there are days when I wonder, "how do I help them understand their background?" What she went through really hits home for me and I'm sure I'll be calling Dr.Black for prescription refills with a side of parenting advice.<div><br /></div><div>Secondly, the cool thing about this image is that the in just 3 generations, a grandmother, mother and daughter can look similar but at the same time, completely different! Just look at Emrys, cutie pie, who is 1/4 Taiwanese with the long-flowing blond hair. I've always wanted hair like that. Maybe when I have grandchildren ....</div><div><br /></div><div>I am very much looking forward to tell this mother's story in my upcoming book.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940078199927893537.post-91546338502206061502009-08-27T17:28:00.000-07:002009-08-27T17:44:46.066-07:00A Mom and Her "Boys"<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1e5cxhXJ3vgVXMo_Hof_wDbcVLymyrg5iP8079O114g_tJ1BnFxScmx3H_Ca6HGKMdkX0xnxt1XS8dgDgMpAWB8kvm776QIKPjcDs205IadSAOBv-S7VZh3ObL8mPlREdnO8uNtctJRU/s1600-h/2_family_032.jpg"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1e5cxhXJ3vgVXMo_Hof_wDbcVLymyrg5iP8079O114g_tJ1BnFxScmx3H_Ca6HGKMdkX0xnxt1XS8dgDgMpAWB8kvm776QIKPjcDs205IadSAOBv-S7VZh3ObL8mPlREdnO8uNtctJRU/s320/2_family_032.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374805682440610690" /></a><p> I had such a fun time photographing this mom and her "boys". Robin had one of the most unique approaches to describing her boys to me. I'm not sure I want to give it away yet because I've gotta save the good stuff for the book! Well okay ... I'll tell you. She described their personalities relative to the roles that they would play when she's in a nursing home. Wesley (left) will be the one to take care of her in the nursing home, Willie (middle) will be the one arranging all the social events and Wyatt (right) will be the one to own the nursing home one day.<div><br /><div>It was endearing, sweet and dead-on! My friend wanted to surprise his wife with family photos and a ceremony to renew vows for their ten year anniversary. He really put a lot of time planning the details of the day. Quite impressive. <br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">It was truly an honor for me to witness the love and commitment that they have for each other. At the end of the ceremony, their 2 year old lightened the mood by running around with no pants on. All around a memorable day! That's definitely going in the book.<br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Helen (www.mountainwind.biz)</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940078199927893537.post-86046215576148380182009-03-29T19:16:00.000-07:002009-04-09T08:59:29.553-07:00Airshow<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidfxadOnD_XhKrt9QJ-1NDdUkEsnc4J8eRex5bb6xIMumKUgOvGOReqlKxpUhTy6nnYtUY6T95tnHbdTCt9w2-RVe76GCifOFd7-L3w2W7Ga0jvK3AV-GcKGIWZ2oCFTZ0z_s_SKBWq_M/s1600-h/OD1M6168.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidfxadOnD_XhKrt9QJ-1NDdUkEsnc4J8eRex5bb6xIMumKUgOvGOReqlKxpUhTy6nnYtUY6T95tnHbdTCt9w2-RVe76GCifOFd7-L3w2W7Ga0jvK3AV-GcKGIWZ2oCFTZ0z_s_SKBWq_M/s320/OD1M6168.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322511290315194626" /></a><br />Photographed at an Airshow today. She is a golf pro but you can just tell, being a mother comes first. The added benefit of creating this book has got to be all the amazing moms that I have met along the way. Each mom has managed to incorporate their kids into their daily life, sometimes even work life. I had the pleasure of photographing her son practicing his swing. Never had I seen a swing this effortless and smooth ...<div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRic31z9x5Q6rfcZVRIcv78noMbNgFElnFsTue52UARYXWq6XgZOt4Ezak4rJrrYcWdbdEEOeOTVKL8ImPuo-1TLF7JTHI9IL-YhShsfJadG5MjIgYVn3BmL2qDb-RUcEpyVz1k11b6hs/s320/6_Drew_Candid_117.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5322508898735717442" /></div><div>Stay tuned for more moms!</div><div><br /></div><div>Helen (www.mountainwind.biz)</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5940078199927893537.post-19702129542638763522009-03-06T16:02:00.000-08:002009-04-09T08:57:32.189-07:00Footprints<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtFYVC0LaXv5fgctenJLkFXbJMtQbZwAepGgb92DngSEFIcfVk8FRiVsO8Qx76aRYTzMHBxkInJbztATNO5p-_AULpdQ5jhGvzj9clIqApZ1rPJw-jNEqIC88iizvoWjx5wo1GxhT4jQA/s1600-h/1_favs_021.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtFYVC0LaXv5fgctenJLkFXbJMtQbZwAepGgb92DngSEFIcfVk8FRiVsO8Qx76aRYTzMHBxkInJbztATNO5p-_AULpdQ5jhGvzj9clIqApZ1rPJw-jNEqIC88iizvoWjx5wo1GxhT4jQA/s320/1_favs_021.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310234766504579202" /></a><br />Mothers have an ability to find strength that they never knew they had. This is the beginning of my journey.</span></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">A little about my project ...</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Since college, I have wanted to publish my own photography book so I started by looking through my body of work and found a common type of image that is rich with emotions ... images of mothers and child/children. Many of my photo shoots are all about the kids but in those rare moments when I capture the mother comforting their child or just proudly looking at their kids, those are some of my absolute favorites.</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Every mother has a different story to tell and we have our own special way of bonding with our kids. So, I turn to my past clients, fellow friends and mothers for their help with this project, a photography book featuring mothers.</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">This may be be a bit ambitious and it may change as the book evolves but here are the three major components .... a candid shot, a studio shot and a short blurb about the mother.</span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;">1. </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;">Each mother and child/children will have a two page spread in the book. The first, a candid shot will feature the mother in their own environment with their kids whether it is preparing dinner with the kids doing homework in the background, cheering the kids on at a soccer game, grocery shopping or just loading up the kids into the car.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;">2. The facing page would be a studio portrait of the mom with the kids(s). Nothing fancy, just faces, unique features and some creative lighting.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana;">3. A short blurb about each mom or a quote from each mom. I haven't thought this one out too much yet so I'm hoping you moms out there and give me some great ideas.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;">Bye for now.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana; font-size: 13px;">Helen (<a href="http://www.mountainwind.biz"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: georgia;">www.mountainwind.biz</span></a>)</span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
